Hot Weather Makes Business Sizzle Posted By: Deborah Hoffman News10/KXTV http://www.news10.net/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=61854
CITRUS HEIGHTS, CA - On April 17, 2009, Pat Kennelly at Water
Ski World was excited about what he thought would be the start of his summer ski season.
The forecast that Friday in April was calling for warm temperatures.
"We're excited about it," said Kennelly
on that Friday. "It's finally going to be warm and maybe a little hot, we've been waiting for this."
But Kennelly, who has run Water Ski World on Greenback Lane with his wife Rhonda for 30 years, would
have to wait a little longer for summer-like temperatures.
"A lot of things happened since (April 17th) a lot of bad weather happened," said Pat on Tuesday afternoon.
"It was a tease," said
Rhonda. "With the wind you know it's very unusual this time of year to have such cool weather in June."
Steve Speyer was in the Kennelly's store buying some boating gear. "It's been a really
freaking June," he said. "Just cold weather."
But now he said he's excited to get his children out on the boat for some fun on Folsom Lake. "It's going to warm up, the water, everybody's
going to have more you know, the fever, summer fever," said Speyer.
The Kennellys said they've learned to live with mother nature's many quirks and surprises. "You just have to be ready to roll with the
punches," said Pat. "You can't control the weather."
But now that the weather is promising to heat up, the Kennelly's are expecting business to sizzle. "The hotter it is the busier we
are," said Rhonda. "We love it."
